Graduated students can inquire and authenticate their academic qualifications and degrees through China Higher Education Student Information Network (CHSI). As CHSI has been open to international students since 2008 the paths for handling relevant matters for students who enrolled before and after that year are different. The specific process is as follows:
1、 Graduate Academic Qualification
Graduates can certify the academic qualifications through China Higher Education Student Information Network (CHSI). The relevant process is as follows:
2) The name must be consistent with the graduation certificate usually in the format of "LAST NAME FIRST NAME" (all uppercase English letters comma input in English format) e.g. "ZHANGSAN"; for students who graduated in 2020 the format should be "LAST NAME (space) FIRST NAME" all uppercase English letters e.g. "ZHANG SAN";
3) The certificate number is the number on the graduation certificate not the number on the degree certificate; If the query is still unsuccessful you can try changing the order of the names or send an email to study@pku.edu.cn to confirm whether the data reported is complete. If the photo is missing it needs to be uploaded separately (specific requirements: the photo size must not exceed 50KB the extension format should be jpg or jpeg and it must be the same version as the graduation certificate photo) and sent to the above email address together with the electronic version of the graduation certificate.
4) Please registration first before going through the verification process. Please follow the query results strictly and use the passport number you used during your time at the university to register for the CHSI account ensuring that the registered name matches the query results.
Note: Graduates who enrolled after 2008 can complete the verification themselves through the above process; Students who enrolled before 2008 are required to use the "artificial window" of CHSI to certify.
2、 Graduate Degree Certification
Before querying and verifying please ensure that the registered name and passport number on the CHSI website are strictly consistent with the backend data. The backend data format is as follows:
1) Explanation of the name format for the bachelor’s degree verification on the CHSI backend:
a. Undergraduate students who graduate before 2024 are required to register with a Chinese name;
b. Starting from 2024 the name used for undergraduate degrees and diplomas is consistent as that used in academic qualification and in English. Name format "LAST NAME FIRST NAME" (all uppercase English letters comma input in English format) e.g. "ZHANGSAN"
2) Explanation of the name format for the postgraduate degree verification on the CHSI backend:
a. Postgraduate students who graduate before July 2024 should use the same name on their degree certification for inquiry;
b. Starting from July 2024 the name used for postgraduate degrees and diplomas is consistent as that used in academic qualification.
3) The ID number is the passport number used during your time at the university.
3、 Third Party (companies enterprises etc.) Verification of the Identity of Graduated Students
Please search through the "scattered query" on CHSI website. If the query is unsuccessful the student must verify the backend data of the CHSI with the International Students Division.
