1） Internet account

Each room in the student dormitory has Internet access, which makes it very convenient to surf the Internet. You can also go to the Computing Center, the library, or an Internet cafe outside the campus to surf the Internet. Peking University has much information published on the Internet, much of which are very important to you, and you need to browse them frequently.

Before opening the Internet service, please make sure that there is enough money on the campus card. You can access the Internet using the recharge machine on the first floor of the computing center. After the Internet is opened, you can use the Internet according to your student ID and password (the initial password is the 8-digit birthday).

In the international student dormitory, the network setting is automatic; that is, if your network card is installed correctly, select "Automatically obtain IP address" and "Automatically obtain DNS server address" in the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties. Then, you can browse domestic websites in China. If you need to browse international websites, take your campus card to the Computing Center in Building 1 of the Science Building to review the account opening procedures. After the account is opened, it will be charged according to the information flow. You can ask the teachers in the Computing Center to help solve specific problems.

In addition, wireless network services are opened on campus. Using a laptop with a wireless network card lets you freely enjoy the Internet space by the Weiming Lake, the library, the Jingyuan lawn, etc.

There are many sports and fitness venues on the Peking University campus, so students can exercise more in addition to studying. The following is some information about sports and fitness venues:

4） Transportation

Taxis are very convenient in Beijing, and taxis generally serve day and night. The fare is calculated based on the rental mileage, generally 2.3 yuan/kilometer. There is a "TAXI" sign light on the taxi's roof. The supervision card above the dashboard in the car has the driver's photo, name, unit, and supervision phone number. There will be a "FOR HIRE" sign on the front windshield of the taxi. You will receive a printed fare invoice when you leave the car. You'd better keep the invoice. In case of any problems, you can contact the taxi company or its company with the invoice.

Beijing's subway is well-connected, and it is convenient and fast to travel by subway. Currently, 17 lines are open, leading to every corner of Beijing's urban area and nearby counties. You can find them on the Beijing map. Line 4, "Peking University East Gate Station," is the nearest subway station to Peking University.

There are many bus routes around Peking University, which is convenient to travel. However, due to the rapid development of Beijing, the bus routes and bus stops often change, which depends on your observation and mastery. When riding a bus, you must stand firmly, and when taking a taxi, you must fasten your seat belt, especially on the highway, and pay more attention to traffic safety. When riding, you should pay special attention to keeping your documents and belongings safe to avoid loss.

Bicycles are a means of transportation used by many Beijingers. Buying a sturdy and durable second-hand car when studying at Peking University is a good idea.

Motorcycles and unlicensed electric vehicles are prohibited on the Peking University campus.

5） Campus Card Renewal
