Frequently asked questions are answered as follows:
1. Q: Do all uploaded files have to be scanned in color?
A: Yes. Applicants should scan the original or notarized application documents in color using a scanner. Images captured by mobile phone or camera are NOT acceptable.
2. Q: What does “applicants expected to graduate in 2026” refer to?
A: “Applicants expected to graduate in 2026” refers to those who will graduate before July 2026 but have not yet received a degree diploma when applying for Peking University graduate programs. Applicants expected to graduate in 2026 must provide an official letter from their current university stating their expected graduation date, submit their certificate of graduation upon being pre-admitted, and present their original degree diploma upon registration.
3. Q: I will get my degree after September 2026, may I still apply for the admission for Fall 2026?
A: No. All admitted students should present their original degree diplomas as required upon registration in early September 2026 for the enrollment qualification review. Students with degree diplomas awarded by overseas universities should, in addition, submit the authentication report issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange. Students who do not pass the enrollment qualification review due to the lack of the degree diploma will not be allowed to enroll at Peking University.

6. Q: Must I use the template for the personal statement?
A: Yes. Download the personal statement template, fill it in and sign it (passport name, handwritten).
7. Q: Is there any template for the résumé?
A: There is no template for the résumé.
8. Q: Can the Application Commitment letter be signed electronically?
A: No. Download and print the application commitment letter, sign it with a pen (using your passport name) and scan it clearly.
9. Q: How does the recommender complete the recommendation?
A: Once the applicant has filled in the email of the recommender and clicked "Send Email", the application system will send an email to the recommender. The recommender clicks the link in the email and completes the online recommendation either by filling out the form online or by uploading a scanned copy of the signed letter.
10. Q: How do I know if the recommender has completed the recommendation online?
A: Applicants can see the “Time of Submission” in the application system. If the recommender has completed the online recommendation, the "Time of Submission" will show the specific time of the completion. If the "Time of Submission" is empty, the recommender has not yet completed the recommendation.
11. Q: What should I do if the recommender does not receive the email sent by the system?
A: It is possible that the email sent by the system might be mistakenly placed in the spam (or junk) mailbox of the recommender. If necessary, applicants can click "Send Email" again in the system before submitting their application, which will cause another email to be sent to the recommender; the previous link will expire. Please do not click the “Send Email” button repeatedly within a very short period.
12. Q: May I change my recommender’s email address?
A: Yes. Applicants can modify the recommender's information before submitting the application. Upon clicking "Send Email", the system will send an email to the new email address. If the recommender is changed, the link the previous recommender received will expire.
13. Q: May the recommender complete the online recommendation after the application deadline?
A: Yes, but the recommender must complete the online recommendation by December 31, 2025, at the latest. Please note that the Christmas and New Year holiday period (December 23rd-31st) may cause delays in responses from recommenders, which could lead to your application being rejected.
14. Q: I am applying for the Chinese-taught program, may I submit the HSK score later after the application deadline?
A: Yes, but the HSK Admission Ticket must be uploaded before submitting the application, and the examination date must be on or before December 7, 2025. The deadline for submitting the HSK Level 6 score is December 31, 2025.
15. Q: My current passport is about to expire. May I select “Applying” when filling in the passport number?
A: Fill in your current passport number when applying.
16. Q: Is uploading research achievements compulsory?
A: It is not compulsory. Due to the limitation on the size of each file, if you have any research achievements to support your application, please just submit the cataloguing (citation) information and abstract of the published academic articles.
17. Q: How do I know what other materials are required by the department/school?
A: Applicants may be contacted by the department/school during the academic review process for additional supporting materials. Applicants should always pay attention to check the emails (including those which might have been directed to your spam mailbox) intermittently so as not to affect the application due to missed emails.
18. Q: Can the two majors/programs applied for be in the same department/school?
A: The two majors can be different majors in two different departments/schools, or the same major in two different departments/schools, or two different majors in the same department/school, but some departments/schools limit applications to be only one major in the same department/school (those departments/schools are so noted in the application system).Please be advised that applicants who apply for two majors must give up one of the re-examination interview opportunities if their interview time conflicts, and the application fee is not refundable. If you are admitted to both programs at the same time, you must give up one of them, and the application fee is non-refundable.
19. Q: If I apply for two majors/programs, do I need to submit two applications and pay application fees twice?
A: Yes. To apply for two majors at the same time, you must submit two online applications and pay each application fee separately before the application deadline. Upon making payment, please wait patiently for the confirmation of the successful payment. To avoid any repeated payments, do not click the payment button repeatedly within 3 minutes.
20. Q: How may I know the date for the re-examination/interview?
A: It will generally take place in March, but the specific time is different in each department/school. Applicants must pay attention to the latest notice on the website of the department they are applying to and check their emails (including the spam mailbox) frequently. If the applicant misses the re-examination/interview due to personal reasons such as negligence, all consequences shall be borne by the applicant.
21. Q: How may I find out the specific arrangement for the re-examination/interview?
A: Applicants can directly consult the department/school they are applying to, look for the latest notice on the website of the department/school, and check their emails (including spam mailbox) frequently.
22. Q: What paper documents should be mailed if being pre-admitted?
A: Pre-admitted students must send the signed application form (double-sided, color printed), the original certificate of graduation and degree authentication report (except for students who are to graduate in 2026, who will submit theirs later), original official transc
23. Q: How to apply for scholarships?
A: Scholarship applications usually begin in March or April. Please pay close attention to the latest notice on the International Student Division’s website.
24. Q: How to apply for on-campus dormitories?
A: Zhongguanyuan Global Village dormitories are open for reservation from July to August every year. Students should follow the latest notice on the International Student Division’s website and apply as soon as possible after it is open for reservation. Dormitories are QUITE limited and the booking is on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who fail to book a dormitory can rent their own housing off campus.
25. Any other important notes?
(1) The exit and entry administration authority of the public security organ of China reserves the right to judge whether an applicant still has Chinese nationality. If during the application period or even after the admission or registration the applicant is judged to be still holding Chinese nationality, his/her application, admission, registration or even enrollment will be nullified.
(2) Applicants must ensure that the application information, application materials, degree diploma and degree authentication provided are true and accurate. If anything in the application is judged to be not true, the application, admission or enrollment qualification will be nullified.
(3) Applicants who are found to be in breach of academic or professional ethics, or have problems with honesty and trustworthiness, or compliance with laws or regulations, etc., will not be admitted or the admission/enrollment qualification will be nullified.
